hiya, aden here! 2024 is over, and so it's time for a recap!
overall i'd say the year was good, except for that one incident that led to me deleting my old @acheney accounts and being at my lowest point in my life. speaking of which, i still have all of my old media under that name on my hard drive, i've been meaning to upload all of it somewhere, preferably on my old url https://acheney.xyz with download links, but who knows when i'll do that. shoutout to @thejayjay for keeping an archive from up to 2023 on his website; you can look at that in the meantime
as for the vekoN project, considering the past eight months have basically been the debut period for the alias, i'd say it all went good this year. i released four singles, an EP, and a compilation of some older songs, all of which is on my bandcamp page; if you would check that out i'd really appreciate it. i was planning on releasing more but life just kind of got in the way. overall my release schedule was solid, although i wish i had done more. i also got a decent amount of streams on the typical music platforms, particularly youtube music. it's not much, but thank you to all who streamed my music! also i've had a massive influx of followers on bluesky; i got 287 followers between creating the account in october and now! thank you all so much!
i do have a lot of WIPs and a few mostly-finished tunes on my computer here, and hopefully i'll let as many of them as possible see the light of day in 2025. admittedly i've been struggling with balancing artistic integrity / the desire to achieve my best and SEO / business / release schedule considerations. someday i'll figure it out and not sell out, so to say
other than all that, overall the year was good. of course, my stepdad died from heart problems last june. i had known him since i was five, and though there were many rough spots in our relationship (including the aforementioned above incident), there were also great moments of love, and seeing my mother grieve for him really hurt me emotionally. RIP
now, as for 2025, i want to do more with music. i want to release more, make more, and listen to more. i also want to do some commissions; i have done exactly 0 this year, and i'd really like to change that, not just so i have some kind of income but also so that i can give creators the audio they need. of course commissions are still open, you can view all the info about that here
in terms of releases, i'd definitely like to release more singles and EPs, including past releases from here and soundcloud. i'm also working on an album that'll be a fully-fledged artistic statement, unlike the vekoN 0 compilation; i'd like to release that this year too
lastly i want to do more with myself irl; my current plan for this year is to start going to trade school for computer maintenance, get a job in the meantime, and maybe even finally move out of my family residence. i know that commissions almost certainly cannot provide a stable income right now, so i'll have to find something i like doing and do that alongside music
